There are no stupid questions

Hello Muggles!

There are no stupid questions. You've heard this a lot if you went to any type of school. While there are no stupid questions, sometimes you feel stupid for asking them. Don't!!!

When you're pregnant, you read so many things over the course of your entire pregnancy and everything seems to contradict itself. It's confusing!!! You'll talk to your other pregnant friends and they tell you what they've heard and you end up with about 4 million different bits of information.

Never be afraid to ask your doctor questions!

I repeat, NEVER BE AFRAID TO ASK YOUR DOCTOR QUESTIONS!!

Whether it's your first pregnancy or you ninth, every pregnancy is completely different and the effects that it has on your body can differ a lot!!

While sometimes it's embarrassing to admit certain things or ask some questions, you have to ask them because sometimes something is actually going on. I was just at an appointment where I had to tell my doctor that I was itchy. When you admit certain things, in your head you go over how you are going to present yourself and the possible reactions, they're almost never what happens. Doctors are typically very professional and mine definitely is! She said it was really common and found that I had an infection that needed to be treated but everything is fine. Had I not something, it could have meant further complications down the road.

I am nowhere near an expert when it comes to this whole pregnancy thing, but I just happen to be the ring leader in a slew of my friends getting pregnant all with our first babies; so even though I know about as much as they do, I still get asked a lot of questions. My answer is pretty much always ask your doctor. If you're scared, hesitant or unsure your doctor is only a phone call away. They want the best for you and your baby.

There are no stupid questions! <3

The Advice Disease

Hello Muggles!

I'm going to tell you something that you already know... the advice disease is real!!

Now whether you're looking for a new car, new place to live or even new clothes, you know this to be very true. Everyone has an opinion and if you even close to voice that you are doing anything, everyone that has the advice disease will let you know what you need to do.

I knew that when I was getting married that the advice disease runs strong in a lot of people. What I think is most hilarious is that when I actually would ask for advice, all those people disappeared and the "Do what you want to do" people showed up. I was warned that when I got pregnant that it was going to be worse. That was not a lie.

Since being pregnant I have gotten so much unsolicited advice. In fact, one status that I posted on facebook said "Unsolicited advice. #PreggoProblems", which generated even MORE unsolicited advice. But don't worry, because everyone that gives you advice is telling you "What you really need to know." I had people tell me 'Omg you're going to get so much advice, but what you really need to know is....' and then proceed to give me advice!!! Those are the people that really make me laugh and roll my eyes simultaneously.

Everyone thinks they they have the best advice and you just have to take it with a grain of salt. They are more than likely just telling you what worked best for them because they already heard a lot of advice themselves and found what worked for them. The only people that I would say to definitely not listen to, are the people that are living through others pregnancies. It's nice that your sister was pregnant and dealt with stuff, but you're not a parent, you haven't been pregnant so literally I stopped listening to you the second your started to try to give me advice. HAHA!

Ultimately, despite all the advice, you're going to find what's best for you. If you've found what's best for you, don't post about it on facebook, because then you're just going to get more advice despite saying that you've found what's best for you.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading!

Belly Touching... It's ok to say no!

Hello Muggles!!!

If you've ever been pregnant or at least been around pregnant people, you probably know what I am going to tell you. As soon as people hear the word pregnant, your belly becomes a magnet for unwanted touching. Now some people really don't mind. Others ((like myself)) don't care for being touched, and that's ok too!

One thing I think that people really just don't comprehend and I really don't know why is if it's inappropriate to do when a woman isn't pregnant, how much more so is it not ok when she is!! If a woman wasn't pregnant, you would just grab her stomach. It's weird, uncomfortable, bizarre, inappropriate and a slew of other adjectives. Why try to touch the baby before it comes out? You're not touching the baby, you're touching the woman that's pregnant. Doesn't matter what's in her belly. When I wasn't pregnant, I had quesadillas in my belly all the time!! Do you want to feel those? No!!!

Now I personally, do not like to be touched really. Ma Muggle Makeup Geek,is supppper touchy feely whereas Daddy Muggle Makeup Geek was more standoffish and I definitely gravitate more towards Dad's side of the family. I have to know someone for an obscenely long time or have an instant connection with them before I am comfortable giving any type of affection. The most awkward part of feeling this way is when I am at church and people are very huggy. You have to hug the people that want hugs but you don't always know who those people are and it gives off the illusion that I am huggy when if I had it my way I'd pretty much just give everyone hand shakes except my close friends. It's just one of those social conducts that you have to go off other peoples cues.

Now, I am not opposed to belly touching, but because my immune system is crap to begin with, I'd much rather not be touched. I am however opposed to belly rubbing/shaking ((but that's a different story)). My biggest pet peeve right now is belly touching, simply because I was/am overweight and not showing. So when people are grabbing my belly, they're literally grabbing my belly. Mr Muggle Makeup Geek had his hand on my belly last night and you really have to kind of push down to feel where the baby is because I have extra flub to love. Once I am seriously bumping, a touch here or there probably won't bother me that much but I really don't know how I am going to feel at that time.... It isn't going to stop me from getting ever single t-shirt that says not to touch me. :)

The big thing is, if you feel uncomfortable, it's you're right to feel that way and you need to say something. In a perfect world every mother would be able to make a public service announcement that played on repeat whether or not they were comfortable with it or not. HAHA! Sadly we have to pretty much keep it at an individual basis. What I did was tell people in advance if I was comfortable with them touching my stomach.

So basically, it's your body. If you don't want someone touching you, you don't have to tolerate it. Speak up for yourself. :)

First Time Mommy: Things they never told you!

Hello Muggles!!

I may not be reviewing makeup anymore, but it's only because I am going to be a Mommy!!!! Between working, be sick, being tired and being kinda broke; I haven't been able to find the desire to put on make up let alone constantly buy new makeup to review.

Some people gave me makeup to review and I just wear makeup so infrequently at this point that I thought it was time to start a blog for what I am up to right now!

Being a first time mommy is weird!!

I had been around for my nieces and nephew being born and my sister-in-law's pregnancy, but I guess I must not have been too close to the actual pregnancy because there are several things that happened to me that I just never knew were going to happen.

Like a lot of first time moms, the only thing that I new about pregnancy
...other than how it happens ;) ...
were things that I saw on tv and the very well known symptoms.

Over the last several weeks before we announced that we were pregnant, I compiled a list of things that I never knew would happen that have happened.

HICCUPS
On tv you see the cute little hiccup that shakes your belly because the baby has hiccups. Well what they didn't tell you, was until your baby can have the hiccups themselves.... you get the hiccups for them! One of the many things that I have experiences is about 6-10 cases of the hiccups A DAY!!!!!

NAUSEA
Now you're probably thinking, how the heck did this woman not know that she was going to have nausea; and that is just not the case at all. What I didn't know is that nausea starts right away! On Tv you always see women throwing up and that's how they find out they're pregnant and then that's it. NOPEEEE! I started getting sick at 2 weeks pregnant! I didn't even know that I was pregnant for another week and a half! Now I am 13 weeks and I still get sick every day!
((Psi bands are the best! Buy them if you're feeling nauseated))

DR APPOINTMENTS
One thing that I really didn't expect was the lack of Dr appointments. When I called my doctor up and told her that I was pregnant, I thought she'd want to see me right away. Nope! She had me schedule an appointment 2 weeks later. Until I was 12 weeks I still thought there was half a shot that I was just going to find out that I had some weird flu that stopped my period! My 12 week ultrasound was OPTIONAL! So if I didn't schedule that I would still be super unsettled because they wouldn't have scheduled me for one until I am 19 WEEKS!!! At ten weeks I was freaking out because all I had done was pee on a stick and tell my Dr who died of what cancer in my family. It's crazy!!!

PELVIS PRESSURE
This stuff is no joke! You know how they say that your back hurts during pregnancy, well what they don't really tell you ((and probably assume you know)) is that your pelvis is widening for the baby. There are days that I literally couldn't move because I was in so much pain from it. Luckily it was super early on and so far the baby is settled where it's going to be mostly until it starts growing bigger.

FEAR
I feel like when I was younger, you never heard about anyone having miscarriage. I don't know if I just didn't pay attention. I know that I knew a couple people that had had them when I was 18 and in college, but so many things can cause them that it's scary! When you find out you're pregnant everything new that goes on in your body ((which is a lot!!!)) makes you scared that something is wrong! If you're afraid. Know you're not alone!

FOOD
When you think of a pregnant woman, you probably picture her 8 months pregnant stuffing her face with every food that you can find; but in reality you're almost not allowed to eat anything! I found out that I was pregnant right before Thanksgiving. To most people they're like YESSSS!!! But I couldn't eat stuffing if it was inside the bird, I couldn't really have turkey, if I had any meat I had to make sure that it was cooked until the point that it was leather. It's just crazy the amount of things you're not allowed to have. My doctor gave me a long list that includes: All deli meats, hotdogs, pink meat, fish, undercooked eggs... the list just goes on and on. The kick in the head is, because I am considered obese, they are only allowing me to gain 11lb, but the only food option they left me with is carbs! Girl if I knew how not to gain weight by only eating carbs I wouldn't be obese, mkayyy.

HOT FLASHES
Now this just might be a me things, but I had no idea that hot flashes were going to start so soon. In watching movies like Father of the Bride Part 2 and The Back Up Plan, these women were having hot flashes with big ol' bellies!!! Here I am, same weight as I was when I got pregnant sweating so bad that I am going to pass out because of a hot flash!

ULTRASOUNDS
So not only does TV embellish the amount of ultrasounds you can expect, nothing could get me ready for the fact that THEY HURT! They make you fill your bladder before hand then then they push all over your stomach. And of course, you're supposed to lie still when it's going on. Also, immediately following your ultrasound, they make you get a blood test.... and before this appointment they make you get a blood test. The one before the ultrasound they take 7 VIALS OF BLOOD! It's not a fasting one, so eat a big meal and drink a lot of water and you'll be ok. Also, asking to lay down helps!

DISCHARGE
I saved this one for last in hopes that in case any boys read this, they wouldn't be scared for life. One of the first things that happened to me is I had this fluid that would discharge. It got so bad at time that I was going through 2-3 panty liners a day!!! Don't worry. It's normally. Just weird and gross hahaha!

That's all for now! I'll be updating things and my baby muggle grows!

Thank for reading!!!
If you have any questions or comments feel free to leave them!
